A PLACE OF LEARNING ON THE NILE
House of Isis brings teachers from the world's spiritual traditions to Egypt, to explore its ancient understanding of nature and the divine.
I
UNIFICATION
The ancient Egyptians saw duality at every level of creation. Horus and Set, order and chaos. Geb and Nut, the earth and the sky. Isis and her eternal lover Osiris, life and death. They understood the balance between these forces as sacred, the gateway to what they called eternal life. They built their temples, their iconography and their whole way of life around it.
Isis heals what has been divided. She gathered the scattered pieces of Osiris along the Nile and made him whole. From that reunion came Horus, who restored order to the world.
Over the centuries she absorbed the qualities of many goddesses and became the divine mother in every sense.
Unification is her nature. It is the founding principle of this house.

WHAT WE DO
We create experiences in Egypt where the world's spiritual traditions meet. Each one focuses on a single area of ancient Egyptian cosmology, such as sacred sound, dream incubation, temple ritual, or the soul's journey to the afterlife, and is led by teachers who practise it today. Traditions that grew up continents apart perceive the same truths, albeit through different lenses. Scholarship can only point to where they meet. Wholeness comes from experiencing them together.

PRINCIPLES
Balance
Scholarship and lived experience belong together. The temples were built by people who mastered mathematics and engineering and who also understood the world through feeling. The felt quality of a place is inseparable from its purpose.
Depth
We focus on narrow subjects and immerse ourselves deeply, with teachers from long lineages, whose lives are spent in service to them.
The Land
Nature is the first teacher here. Part of our work is to restore the gardens and plants the Egyptians regarded as carriers of wisdom, along with their water systems. Without a relationship to the land, spiritual experience amounts to little.
Wisdom into Action
The Egyptians saw the divine running through the physical world, inseparable from ordinary life. Heaven and earth are not two places. What is learned in the temple is meant to be lived.
